What is a microTUBE-50?

The Covaris microTUBE-50 is engineered to optimize DNA Shearing in a 50 µl sample volume with Focused-ultrasonicators utilizing Adaptive Focused Acoustics (AFA) technology.

Optimized Design

microTUBE-50 contains a single AFA Fiber and is optimized for protocols requiring a 50 to 55 µl sample volume. microTUBE-50 utilizes a 8 mm version of the Industry-Standard Covaris microTUBE to eliminate excess head space and the possibility of sample splashing.  2D barcodes provide individual sample tracking.

Designed for batch processing

microTUBE-50 AFA Fiber Plate and 8 microTUBE-50 AFA Fiber Strips are designed for higher throughput applications with the ME220, E220, and LE220 Focused-ultrasonicators.

Highly controllable DNA shearing

DNA shearing with microTUBE-50 is highly reproducible and controllable. Performance is reproducible day to day and sample to sample with standard protocols developed and validated by Covaris.

Note 1: microTUBE-50 AFA Fiber Screw-Cap requires use of an M220, ME220, S220, E220 evolution, E220 and associated holder. Please see “Holders and Racks” below.

Note 2: 8 microTUBE-50 AFA Fiber Strip V2 require use of an ME220, E220 evolution, E220 or LE220 with associated rack.

Note 3: 96 microTUBE-50 AFA Fiber Plate require use of an E220 or LE220.
